2023 Summer Workshops for Adults and Families

Throughout the summer of 2023 Maine’s First Ship will be offering a variety of programs including workshops, lectures and demonstrations of and about various nautical arts and crafts. These activities will be of interest to curious minds of any age .

Four of the offerings are tuition-based workshops. Others are offered without cost at the Jane Stevens Visitor Center at the Bath Freight Shed. We encourage donations for these events as that will help us to continue offering these programs. Many of the workshops are planned as family activities, and no prior experience in any of the topics is required. The workshops do have a minimum age.

The workshops are taught by active Maine’s First Ship volunteers who are sharing their knowledge and skills at no benefit to themselves.  The tuition costs of the workshops goes directly into the MFS operating budget.  The supply costs for the courses pay for course-related tools or equipment (eg: charts or parallel rulers) or kits for created objects (eg: model boats) that the students own and take home with them.
