Model Boat Building Workshop

Model Boat Building
Instructor: Phil Helgerson, Boat builder and hobbyist
This workshops consist of 3-5 two-hour sessions and introduce children to building model boats. There are two skill levels:
Part 1 – Paper model
Part 1 is for younger children age 5 and above and an accompanying adult. Students will build three different model boats from card-stock paper – one boat during each session. Enrollment is limited to eight families.
The tuition for Part 1 is $50 for and adult and 1 child MFS members or $70 for non-member. The supplies for Part 1 are $20 per family.
Part 2 — Wood model
Part 2 is for age 8 and above. Students will build a wooden boat model (Yankee Tender from Woodenboat Store). These sessions will involve edge tools. Enrollment is limited to eight families.
The tution for Part 2 is $50 per person or for an adult and 1 child MFS member ($70 for non-member). Supplies for Part 2 are $25 for a toolkit, plus $60 for the model kit.
Sessions:
- Part 1: June 8, 15 and 22 4pm – 6pm
- Part 2: June 29, July 6, 13, 20, and 27 1pm – 3pm
