Sail on Virginia

Sail on Virginia
Sail on Virginia for a 2-hour trip on the Kennebec River. We will travel either north or south, depending on the tide and wind. This is a hands-on experience for a small group. The crew also acts as educators and interpreters. The minimum age is 12.
The 2-hour sail is $50, or $35 for members of Deckhand and above. This includes admission to the Maine’s First Ship Visitor Center.
Sailings are at 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm on Fridays
Additional Info
Location: All tours start at Maine’s First Ship Visitor Center at the Bath Freight Shed, 27 Commercial St, Bath Maine 04530. Sailing may go either north or south, depending on the tide and wind.
Age limit: The minimum age for sailing is 12. For other tours, children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
Membership: Maine’s First Ship is a membership organization. There are special prices for members at Deckhand and above levels. You can become a member at any time by donating and filling out a membership form. This can be done online or at the Visitor Center.
Arrival: Please arrive for sailings at least 15 minutes before sailing time.
Acknowledgment of Risk: The marine environment has some inherent risks, especially on the dock and on the deck of Virginia. In reserving a sail you acknowledge this risk and agree to act to minimize this risk (as will we). We want everybody to have a safe and fun time.
Accessibility: Virginia is a reconstruction of a 17th-century ship and has limited accessibility. Accessing the ship requires walking up several steps and the ability to move around the ship.
Weather: The captain of Virginia may cancel a sail if the weather or other circumstances make it unsafe. We will sail in light rain, but not in a thunderstorm. If we cancel the tour, we will try to reschedule the sail, reschedule you for another time, or issue you a full refund.
Clothing: Check the weather forecast and dress accordingly. If it is raining, prepare with rain gear. If it is sunny, have a cap or sunhat that will stay on your head. It is likely to feel cooler out on the water. We recommend using sunscreen.
Refund policy: Tickets are nonrefundable unless we cancel the sail due to weather or other circumstances. In that situation, we will try to reschedule the sail. If rescheduling is not an option, then you will receive a full refund.
Contact Us: If you have problems with a reservation or concerns about sailing, you can contact us by email at admin@mfship.org, or use the contact form on the Contact Us page shown in the footer of the page.
