This winter Virginia has moved to the Wiscasset Town Dock. The Kennebec is to dangerous a place due to ice flows from the 130 miles of river above us.
Virginia was moved to her winter home on December 12. She will stay there until late March or early April. For details of the trip see mfship.org/first-voyage .
While Virginia is at her winter home, the Visitor Center will only be open on Saturdays when the Bath Farmers Market is in operation. We can open the Visitor Center on request. You can email info@mfship.org.
We will be restarting full Visitor Center hours the weekend of Memorial Day 2023.
It is a good thing we moved Virginia, because by December 23 we had a major flood of the boat yard followed by early ice flows on the Kennebec River. Of course, it did also flood that day at the Wiscasset Town Dock but everything is back to normal.
During the winter you can still check out the website. See our online exhibits on the Virginia page, read history on the History page, or check out winter events or view recordings of past events on the Events page.
