Sail on Virginia

Sail on Virginia

We have reached another historic moment for Maine’s First Ship as we move to operational mode and open up the reservation system for tours and sailings. We are only authorized to have six passengers for sailings and on-deck tours, so this will be a small hands-on experience. You can go directly to the “Sailings and Tours” page at mfship.org/sailing . You can otherwise find this on the Visit page.

We have a schedule of a tours and sailings, but Virginia will be traveling for several port visits and there will be no tours those days. We may be opening up a few more days as we are more certain of our schedule and crew staffing. We are just learning the reservation system ourselves, so if you have any questions or concerns contact the website admin at admin@mfship.org .

We are busy rigging Virginia so that she is ready to sail to Boothbay Harbor for Windjammer Days in late June. We also need to fit in crew training and prepare for the stability test which we plan on running in Boothbay Harbor.

On June 19 we are starting the 2024 lecture series. The lectures will run on Wednesday evenings with a couple each month in the summer and early fall. See the Events page for more information about these and other events at Maine’s First Ship.

Maine’s First Ship won the Gold Best of the 207 award for Best Attraction for 2023 after winning a Silver in 2022.

Come visit us in this spring and summer.
