Sail Training Experiences on Tall Ships
Getting kids off their phones and out to sea

Sailing Ships Maine has gotten more than 1,000 kids from all walks of life off their phones by sending them out to sea for life-enhancing outdoor experiential programming. Alex Agnew, President of Sailing Ships Maine, will discuss ‘Nautical Studies” and ‘Marine Trades’ as accredited programs for high school students.
Alex Agnew is the co-founder and Executive Director of Sailing Ships Maine. He is an active ocean sailor who has sailed across the Atlantic and 10 times to Bermuda. He is the co-owner of a 40-foot sailboat named Chase and a 32-foot sailboat named Haiku. He is a past President and Publisher of Ocean Navigator and Professional Mariner magazines and remains active on both. Alex Agnew is now focased on matching students with sailing opportunities, and has arranged for more than 1000 students to have overnight sailing experiences on more than a dozen sailing ships.
This is the 4th in a series of 8 in the 2023 Summer Lecture Series. This year the lectures will be held on Wednesday evenings. The lectures will be held at the Bath Freight Shed (27 Commercial St, Bath Maine) and via Zoom.
